The Fellowship of Encourgement
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat time are services? Sunday Worship: 8:00 & 11:00 AM
Bible Fellowship study 9:30 AM Sunday Evening Discipleship groups begin with a meal at 6:PM
We have specially designated parking spaces near the Worship Center. During rainy weather, our parking and greeting folks have large umbrellas! We do encourage you to arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes early for service as services start generally on time.
There is handicap access for wheel chairs.
You will be greeted by men and or women who have name tags to assist, and give you information about our Bible Study classes and in answering any questions, particularly getting you and your children to Bible Fellowship (Sunday school) classes.
Back to Top We offer childcare for children from six weeks of age through two years of age, for the 9:30 Bible Fellowship time and for the 11:00 Worship service.
Your older children, three years old through 6th grade, can attend Bible fellowship classes for each age group, at 9:30. During the 11:00 Worship service, Children’s Church is provided for ages three through kindergarten. A greeter can assist you in finding your child's classroom.
Back to Top If you arrive before the service starts, you will notice that our worship center is an auditorium filled with rows of chairs. There are no reserved seats, so you may sit anywhere. Each pew has a book rack with song books and a Bible. Many people will be greeting each other during this time. As you enter the Worship Center, you will receive a copy of The Encourager (Bulletin)which gives you information on the many happenings at Hilltop Baptist Church. We also announce special activities on the large screen by the platform.
Services generally last about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Our worship services are a time of joyful worship and praise, with a variety of traditional and contemporary Christian music provided by our Praise team. We have one large video screen which will have the words to any songs the congregation sings. (We encourage a "joyful noise.") We believe that God will lead you in the worship style you feel most comfortable with. There may be special announcements or features; occasionally videos are presented.
Before the service many Church members will extend a friendly greeting to you. Please let us know you are a guest. You do not have to register or sign your name to anything if you do not wish to; however, we would like to know you were our guest and ask, if you wish, to fill out the guest card provided in the Encourager (bulletin, yellow sheet) you received upon entering the worship center. We ask that you drop the form in the offering plate at the end of the service as your only offering to us.
If you are visiting from out of town and plan on moving to the Green River area, we would love to know that. A number of folks are joining us after discovering us on the Web. If you found us this way, please let us know on the guest registration form.
Back to Top The pastor or the worship leader will ask the congregation to stand or sit. Generally we stand during congregation songs, during the Bible reading, and during the invitation song and prayer.
Back to Top We have an on-going mid-week prayer ministry and there are Prayer Request forms in the bulletin for you to give us your prayer request. Prayer requests are prayed over at staff meetings, prayer requests that are not confidential will be printed in the following week’s bulletin.
Back to Top The pastor gives Bible-based messages lasting about 30 minutes. He asks that we stand during the brief Bible reading to honor God's Word. His messages are timely and often sprinkled with appropriate humor.
If you have a baby who is not comfortable we would recommend using our nursery facilities.
Back to Top At the end of his message, Pastor Mark Hensley will offer an invitation to anyone who does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to accept Him. He will also ask those who would like to become part of our church family or to be baptized to make that known. The chorus that is then sung while the congregation stands is an opportunity for those people to come to the front of the Worship Center and talk with a staff member about their needs.
Hilltop Baptist Church does encourage tithing. However, our guests are not expected to give anything. During this time, if you have filled out the Guest Registration form we do ask you to drop it in the offering plate.
Back to Top We are a lot of small churches within a large church. We encourage people to check out our Bible Fellowship Groups in order to get to know other people just like you. Classes are offered for all ages at 9:30 a.m. See the list of adult classes and locations. Greeters outside the Worship Center can direct you to your room and will have the most updated list of adult, student, children's and preschool classes and locations. They will guide you to your rooms. This is where Our "Fellowship of Encouragement" becomes real! Sunday Evenings we are using the " Connect Series" by the Navigators. We beging with a potluck meat at 6 :PM , followed by the small group study.
Back to Top The process to become a member of Hilltop Baptist Church is fairly simple. At the end of every Sunday service, an "invitation" will be extended. This is the time for those who have made a decision to trust Christ (or want to do so) to come forward to make that decision public.
This is also the time for those who have already trusted Christ as Lord and Savior to come forward requesting membership by way of believer's baptism, transfer of letter, or statement of faith. When you come forward, you will be teamed up with an "Encourager" who will talk with you about your decision and then complete the necessary paperwork for you. If you do not feel comfortable walking forward during the invitation time, you may simply indicate your decision by filling out a sheet provided for you in the bulletin. You can become a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in the following ways:
BY PROFESSION OF FAITH - If you are not yet a Christian but would like to be, or if you are a Christian but have never been baptized by immersion as a believer, which the Word of God commands, our pastor will pray with you and guide you in your decision.
